I’m a recent college graduate, and this is my first fall/winter that I’m going to be working as a professional. I wear heels every day to work now, but as the weather gets colder I’d like to wear boots.
I don’t have experience wearing them, except uggs when tromping through the snow at school.
What kind of outfits look best with knee high boots that are business professional looking?
Also, if I wear a skirt, should I wear tights or nylons too?

With a skirt i would wear tights, and you can get cute/appropriate boots here!

They have different lengths too.

Knee-high boots would look professional with a straight knee-length skirt, maybe a black or dark gray one. And you should definitely wear tights or nylons with them. Also you should probably look for boots with low to medium-height heels, I don’t think stiletto boots are good for the workplace.

As it gets colder, you’ll WANT to wear tights. After wearing boots for a while, you want to wear both socks AND tights to reduce chafing.
You can wear boots both with a skirt and slacks; most are dressy enough to look good with slacks. Take it easy on the heel height, especially during winter months. Also, regarding winter, it’s hard on boots. I learned the hard way to invest in quality leather instead of the cheaper fake leather. Also invest in a pair of black and a pair of brown boots, so you don’t have to choose between your clean outfit or your winter worthy shoes (it’s happened to me!).
Here are a few examples of perfectly worthy work boots:

Definitely invest in some good quality black leather knee boots, as these can be paired with just about anything. I would say get a pair with a square or rounded toe for comfort, an inside zipper instead of the pull on kind, and definitely a heel, no flats (yuck). These will look very smart and sexy and I’m sure you will get looks and compliments. They will look great with a knee length skirt, or worn underneath pants. I have a pair from nine west that I absolutely love and can’t wait to start wearing again!
